Matches at Totelos

If training alone isn’t enough for you, you can also sign up as a match-playing member. For men, there are two competition options: the NZVB and the KNVB. The NZVB league is more regional and games are usually played on Mondays. In the KNVB league, men’s matches are almost always on Fridays—perfect if you want to visit your parents over the weekend. The women’s teams usually play their matches on Mondays!

Experiences

Playing indoor football at E.S.Z.V.V. Totelos is without a doubt one of the best decisions I made during my student life in Eindhoven. That might sound like something you’re supposed to say as a member, but let me explain why I truly mean it. When I moved from my familiar hometown of Maastricht to Eindhoven to start studying, I found it quite daunting. I didn’t know anyone and knew I had to actively do something to build a social network. And what better way to do that than by playing the sport you love most: football! I decided it was time for a bit of change, so I switched from outdoor football to futsal. That’s how I ended up at Totelos. From the very first moment, I was warmly welcomed by both the members and the board. Thanks to the many activities – from national and international tournaments to pub nights and amazing members’ weekends – I quickly found a new group of friends. At the same time, I had the chance to grow as a football player. Whether you’re just starting out or have been playing for years, whether you're in it for the fun or the competition – at Totelos, there’s a place for everyone. Today, I’m the captain of the Women’s First Team, I get to play my favorite sport every week at my own level, and I’ve built a close group of friends. I couldn’t wish for anything better than being a Totelosser!

Hey future Totelosser, When I joined Totelos last year and ended up in Ladies 4, I quickly noticed that the team had one main goal: to do better than the year before. That didn’t sound too hard to me—after all, Ladies 4 had never won a match. Winning just one game should be a piece of cake, I thought… but that turned out to be a bit more difficult than expected. After playing a bit of outdoor football in Utrecht—where I scored more own goals than actual goals—I decided to switch to futsal with Totelos. That’s how I landed in Ladies 4, the most fun team out there (if I may say so myself). The many evenings our coach explained "the diamond" formation yet again while treating us to his cooking, the fitness classes, and the drinks after training all helped us understand the game better. And guess what? By the end of the season, we actually won matches and achieved our goal! Every single point we earned was celebrated properly—with cake! 😊 Besides the football, I’ve also really enjoyed everything off the pitch: the socials, tournaments, and team nights. I’ve met so many open, friendly people. I’ve also learned what it’s like to celebrate carnival both playing football and drinking beer, and just how amazing the music in ’t Lempke can be—especially when you don’t listen too closely. All of it made me feel right at home in the club from day one. So, are you a hesitant future Totelosser still unsure if futsal is for you? Just go for it! Whether you’re in it for the sport, the fun, or both—you’ll be right at home with Totelos. Hope to see you soon on the court!

In 2022, I decided to join Totelos to get more out of my student life. Besides studying, I wanted to meet new people, attend the occasional party, and stay active through sports. I started playing futsal in the NZVB league. Since those matches are on Mondays, it gave me the freedom to visit my parents on weekends and keep playing outdoor football back home. I really enjoyed it—having dinner with the team on Mondays, biking to matches together, and “evaluating” the game afterward over a beer. Every Thursday we trained as a group, and there was always time for a fun game or a drink with the whole club afterward. The openness of the members really helped me feel at ease during my first year. That same year, I immediately became part of team N8, which was then our first official fraternity in the making. Besides playing futsal every Monday, we also have dinner together on our off-weeks and go to student parties as a group. We’ve grown into a tight-knit group. Every year, we organize the cantus for all of Totelos—an event everyone looks forward to. We always do our best to support the club, and we’re now officially recognized as a dispuut. The following year, in 2023, I even joined the board and started playing matches in the KNVB league on Fridays. This upcoming season, 2025/2026, I’ll continue playing in both leagues, regularly attend training, and stay involved in various committees—I’m still having a great time here. Totelos has something for everyone and is the perfect club if you want to explore student life in Eindhoven at your own pace and in your own way. I’m really looking forward to another great year with Totelos—and I hope I’ve made you excited too. Maybe we’ll see each other next year!

Yo, I’m Daan. I’m 22 years old, and I’ve been a member of Totelos for a year now, playing in team T9. I love sports—ever since I started studying, I’ve tried out all kinds of different ones. After five years without playing football, I felt like picking it up again. At the same time, I wanted to try something new, and that’s how I ended up at Totelos. Thanks to the many different types of training sessions, it’s easy to train as often as you’d like. The sessions are individual, so I can go two or three times a week depending on my schedule. That way, you get to meet lots of different people. There’s also always room to train with your own team, which helps you bond on the pitch too. Throughout the year, there are also various tournaments where you can play both with your teammates and with other Totelos members. For me, the sport itself is the main reason to join a club—but the social side definitely comes in as a close second. And it turns out Totelos is so much fun that I’ve caught myself joining quite a few activities. For example, I went to the members’ weekend at the start of the year, where I often got asked, “Are you new here?”—always followed by a fun conversation. That openness really helped me connect with other members and feel welcome in the club. Other events and Thursday nights in the canteen also played a big part in that. In the end, that warm and friendly vibe is a big reason why I chose to stick with futsal at Totelos.

When I started studying in Eindhoven, a fellow student asked if I wanted to join a match in the internal competition. I said yes—and immediately fell in love with futsal. I had always played outdoor football, but this faster, more tactical game quickly won me over. I liked it even more than the sport I had been playing since I was four. So I decided to go to an open training session, where I was warmly welcomed by Totelos’ core group of active members. After the session, we stayed in the canteen for hours, and right away I felt like I belonged. After a few trainings, I heard about the selection training and asked the KNVB commissioner if I could join in. The level there was immediately high, and I learned a ton about the game. The head coach approached me, and we had long conversations about futsal. Within a few months, I got to play matches with the second and first team. I noticed myself improving incredibly fast thanks to the guidance and advice from the other players. That’s something that really defines the Totelos selection teams: we’re not just separate teams—we’re one group, one selection, that continuously strives to grow together. Through Totelos and being part of the selection, I’ve grown not just on the pitch, but even more off of it. I’ve built friendships that will last a lifetime. I did a board year and learned a great deal from that experience. I’ve traveled with the team to (international) tournaments, we got promoted to the second-highest level in the Netherlands, and I even got the chance to become a coach. Joining Totelos has truly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made—and probably ever will make. What I’ve experienced here is something I’ll be grateful for for the rest of my life.
